Is Your Company “Green Friendly”
You Have A Responsibility
Bob Moglia

Most companies are not really focusing on the "carbon footprint". Should my company be concerned with the environment and the responsibility of the vendors they are buying from? Do the companies we are buying from share a responsibility for the environment? What type of legacy am I leaving for my children
The big question is, can my company work with an environmentally conscious group and actually save money on supplies and help the environment at the same time? The answer is yes, look hard at some of the companies you do business with. Do they recycle? Are they hurting or helping the environment?
Greenpeace is a good source for this information. In its quarterly "Guide to Greener Electronics," HP ranked among the bottom of 15 companies on the quest to go green. The report stated HP's failure to eliminate vinyl plastics (PVCs) and brominated flame retardants (BFRs) from its products. Hazardous materials such as these are virtually impossible to recycle and ruin our environment. PVCs and BFRs end up in incinerators, smelters or other things such as landfill fires release dioxins and carcinogens into the air. These materials can also contaminate the soil and wind up in our food chain.
There are several companies that do a good job with their recycling efforts. Search these companies out for the benefit of our children and generations to come. It will take all our efforts and those of the companies we work for as well to keep our environment healthy. Are you doing your part?
